The online graduate school guide Best Master’s Programs has ranked Lawrence Technological University 18th in the top 50 nationwide for online master’s degrees in engineering.
The rankings, which can be viewed at www.bestmastersprograms.org, are based on an equal weight of program quality, as measured by U.S. News & World Report, and estimated program cost.
“Savvy prospective graduate students want to know where to go to get the best bang for their buck, and this ranking effectively evaluates which engineering schools are doing the best job of balancing cost and quality,” said Michelle Rindy, who helped put together the ranking.
LTU offers online master’s degrees in industrial engineering and engineering management.
The investment in higher education in the engineering field typically has a big payoff. The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics states that the average pay for an engineering manager in 2012 was nearly $125,000 per year, which was considerably higher than non-management engineering positions.
“Choosing to complete your engineering degree online offers flexibility on a number of levels, allowing you to get the education to advance in your field, without actually having to leave the field to do it,” Rindy said.
