There isn’t one is a common response, but if you would have talked with Southfield officials over the past 30 or so years, they would have told you that, some day, it would be smack dab at the corner of Evergreen Road and Civic Center Drive.
Over the years, funding and an economy nearly in its death throes made it seem like the dream of a downtown was more like a nightmare. read more
Lawrence Technological University has received a three-year $697,000 grant from the Wisconsin-based Kern Family Foundation to support further expansion of entrepreneurial-minded learning in the curricula for undergraduate engineering students.
This is the final phase of a series of grants adding up to over $2.4 million from the Kern Family Foundation that began in 2003. The goal is to incorporate the entrepreneurial mindset into undergraduate engineering education at LTU. read more

A team from Lawrence Technological University was the winner in the integration category of a national student design competition sponsored by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The Charles Pankow Foundation Annual Architectural Engineering Student Design Competition was held at the AEI’s annual student conference in Philadelphia on March 29. It attracts the top students from the country’s leading architectural engineering programs. read more

The city of Southfield makes every effort to maintain and repair all roads within the City’s jurisdiction in a timely manner. Due to the severity of weather this winter, the City has increased the number of crews that are actively repairing potholes. The city of Southfield currently has four crews working twelve-hour shifts to repair potholes throughout the city on a priority basis. In a typical winter, two four-person crews generally use approximately 300 tons of cold patch in repairing pot holes. This winter, the City has already gone through more than 450 tons of cold patch to date. read more
