Community and business leaders will gather to celebrate the rich heritage and vibrant future of Southfield and Lathrup Village at the Commitment to Community Awards on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Skyline Club located at 2000 Town Center, Suite 2800 Southfield, MI. Hosted by the Southfield Community Foundation, the event features Master of Ceremony Fox2 News Reporter Roop Raj.
First initiated in 1995, the Commitment to Community awards honor those whose lives and actions make the community a better place in which to live, work and play. The Southfield Community Foundation recognizes a business, a nonprofit and an individual for their commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the community. This year’s recipients are community activist Linda Cooper (Individual), Providence Hospital Southfield (Business) and the Southfield Center for Youth ‘field Zone (Nonprofit). Awards also include the presentation of the 2012 Mayor’s Scholarship and two scholarships in partnership with DENSO International America, Inc.
Founded in 1989, Southfield Community Foundation promotes community philanthropy, builds endowments and provides resources and leadership to improve the community. As the community’s philanthropic leader, SCF has facilitated the formation and funding of the award winning ‘field Zone Youth Center and administered $1,770,000.00 in grant and partnership support in the past ten years in Southfield and Lathrup Village.
