Arbor Lofts, a new apartment complex located on Civic Center Drive in the Southfield City Centre, will be move-in ready on August 1. The four-story building has a range of unit sizes, from studios to four bedrooms. Prices range from $860 to $2,485 per month. The new apartments feature city skyline views, private bedrooms, complimentary Internet service, high-end finishes, stainless steel appliances, and washers and dryers. All four-bedroom units come fully furnished.
Other amenities include a lobby with keycard-secured elevators, a wi-fi station with printing access, a gym and a business incubator lab. The new apartment complex also has a community space equipped with couches, a television and full kitchen for hosting parties and gatherings. “We want this to be like your home. Your apartment unit is your home, but this space is as well,” said Development Consultant Gaal Karp.
The Arbor Lofts building is a redeveloped office facility. Demolition began 
in September of 2012, and reconstruction started that December. The transformation was a $10 million project. “We gutted the building down to the studs,” said Karp. “The building was well built, but we took out the heating, plumbing and electric and redid it.”
Developers have plans for the first floor to house a variety of retail locations, such as a restaurant or bar with an outdoor patio, a spa and a yoga studio.
Karp said that he is very excited that this project landed in Southfield. “Southfield is a strong apartment community. We did a market study that found that there’s a need for three-bedroom and studio apartments,” he said. “Something like the Arbor Lofts hasn’t been done yet [here]. We hope the complex becomes as successful and well known as apartments in competing markets. We believe in Southfield.”
