The day couldn’t have been more perfect as Lawrence Technological University and the City of Southfield celebrated the grand opening of the newly upgraded Southfield Municipal Campus Softball Field, new home to the LTU Women’s Softball team. The celebration marked an exciting milestone in the continued partnership between LTU and the City of Southfield, bringing our communities together and creating new opportunities for Blue Devil students as well as other organizations.
The September 10th event drew LTU and Southfield leaders, students, alumnae and residents to mark the occasion, which coincided with LTU in Southfield Day. The morning began with the LTU marching band entertaining the crowd, followed by remarks from representatives of the city, LTU and the project’s donors and the official ribbon cutting. Speakers included Mayor Kenson Siver, City Administrator Fred Zorn, LTU President Dr. Tarek Sobh and LTU Athletic Director Mary Ann Meltzer.
After the ceremony, the LTU marching band led everyone to the nearby Southfield Eat to the Beat event to enjoy food truck fare and DJ-inspired music.
