Online master’s degree programs in engineering at Lawrence Technological University have been ranked 17th in the country in the 2014 U.S. News and World Report survey of the best online college programs for veterans.

Michigan teams finished first in three of the six major categories at the 15th annual Robofest World Championships held May 17 at Lawrence Technological University.
Over 70 teams competed in the final round of competition, including teams from nine other states besides Michigan – Ohio, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, Hawaii, California, Missouri, Indiana and Washington – and eight other countries – Canada, Mexico, South Korea, China, India, South Africa, Brazil and France. read more

Dug Song, the founder and CEO of Duo Security based in Ann Arbor, has been named the Leader & Innovator of the Year by Lawrence Technological University and WWJ Newsradio 950.
The award was announced at a May 15 reception at Lawrence Tech. Song was chosen from nearly 50 nominees profiled during the past 12 months in the WWJ Newsradio 950 Technology Report. read more

The 1-800-LAW-FIRM building on Lahser Road will implement more than $1,000,000 in clean energy improvements as a result of Michigan’s first Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) project. The renovations will include charging ports for electric cars, the capacity to utilize solar and wind energy and other efficiency-increasing measures. Michigan’s PACE project, Lean & Green Michigan, will privately finance over $500,000 for the renovations, a collaborative effort by The City of Southfield, Srinergy, Comerica Bank and 1-800-LAW-FIRM. The project is set to be completed by early summer. read more

Over Seventy teams from 10 states and eight other countries will compete in the 15th annual Robofest World Championships on Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Don Ridler Field House, Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield. Admission and parking are free for this event.
Robofest is a competition of autonomous robots – computer-programmed to act independently and not remote-controlled – that encourages students to have fun while learning principles of science, technology, engineering, and math, known as the STEM subjects. Teams compete in the junior division (grades 5-8) or senior division (grades 9-12) using a variety of computer programming languages. read more

Skillman Foundation President and CEO Tonya Allen will discuss ways to improve the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations in “When Good in Not Good Enough” on Tuesday, May 20, at 8:30 a.m. at Lawrence Technological University, 21000 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield.
