Revised Brownfield Plan Approved for New Development in the City Centre

Revised Brownfield Plan Approved for New Development in the City Centre 150 150 southfieldcc_3ik8d2

Southfield City Centre business owner Hassan Jawad was recently approved to amend a brownfield plan and develop the former People State Bank property in the district. He has acquired three additional residential parcels, one of which is blighted land that was condemned by the city. The properties, combined with others including the former Peoples State Bank, will be combined for a mixed use development. “We intend to build a one to two-story mixed use structure consisting of retail and/or office and residential space,” said Jawad. “Our plans include extensive pedestrian amenities and outside seating. Michigan residents love to be outside every chance they get!”

With this development, Jawad aims to capitalize on the success of his other property, City Centre Plaza. “We hope to continue to bring a diverse mix of retail and service to the Southfield City Centre,” he said. “Ultimately, our objective is to create a walkable City Centre with density, and make Southfield a destination outside of business hours, evenings and weekends.”

Jawad said the Southfield City Centre’s convenient location makes it one of the most unique in Michigan. “We are 30 minutes from everywhere,” he said. “The district has an incredible mix of Fortune 500 Companies, universities, and many residents from different cultures who choose to call Southfield home.”
