photo 5The American Cancer Society recently held its second-annual Southfield Corporate Relay For Life event at Lawrence Technological University (LTU) to support of the fight against cancer. Local businesses and professionals formed fundraising teams and collectively raised more than $20,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society!

This year’s Relay For Life brought together 12 teams for an afternoon of music, fun and exercise to celebrate those who have overcome cancer, support those who are still fighting the disease and remember those who have lost their battle. The event included speeches from LTU President Dr. Virinder K. Moudgil and Michigan State Trooper Andrew Lambert, who is now cancer free after receiving his diagnosis less than a year ago. read more

Only one week to go until the Southfield Corporate Relay For Life (Sept. 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Lawrence Technological University)! Have you signed your team up yet? If not, there’s still time! Over a million new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year, and the American Cancer Society needs support from volunteers like you to provide those fighting the disease with the assistance they need. The Southfield Corporate Relay For life is a great way to provide that support while also having fun!

The relay, which supports the American Cancer Society, will include a survivor lap and fundraising activities such as a Yoga Shelter class and chair massages (by St John Providence Hospital) for a donation to fundraise for those affected by cancer. There will also be a balloon launch, which will be a time to remember and honor those who have fought cancer. read more

This is a friendly reminder to support the fight against cancer by forming a team for the Southfield Corporate Relay For Life, which is coming up on Sept. 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Lawrence Technological University. Your support is vital to the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives by helping people get well, stay well and actively fight back against the disease.

The money raised impacts countless people. It supports research to develop treatments and search for a cure, helps patients pay for costs associated with cancer treatment and makes it possible for the American Cancer Society to provide resources for those fighting the most challenging battle of their life. The American Cancer Society has contributed to a 20 percent decline in the cancer death rate since 1991 – an accomplishment that would be impossible without the support of committed Relay For Life volunteers. read more

The Southfield Corporate Relay For Life is quickly approaching! The event will be held on September 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Lawrence Technological University quadrangle. It’ll be an opportunity to raise money in support of the fight against cancer, promote a healthy lifestyle and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease.

The event will be short in length, but huge in impact – and your business can be a part of it. Last year, the Southfield Corporate Relay For Life had over 50 attendees and raised more than $23,000 – two milestones that we hope to exceed this year. To make it happen, we’re going to need your help!
